Yellow is the new Red…

Walnut Creek, CA – Yellow is the new red for Bob Accardo in the #29 car and the Red Panther Motorsport team. Getting the red 5th Gen Howe Camaro sold and acquiring a newer 6th Gen Howe Camaro mid season, the challenge was to not miss a race. The #29 RPM team accomplished their goal, and then some!

The new car was delivered to Life’s Good Racing in Livermore about a week and a half prior to Round 4 of United States Touring Car Championship race at Sonoma Raceway. The crew went right to work fitting Accardo into the new ride, getting a baseline for the set-up, and basically going over the entire car to ensure everything was in proper order.

After some tire scrubbing and a brief shake-down, it wasn’t long before Accardo found his groove around the famed road course setting fast time in the first practice session. Previous data and track knowledge helped the crew make changes to dial the set-up further which seemed to give Accardo the tools to lay down a blistering fast qualifying lap earning him the pole for the start of Sunday’s race.

Red Panther Motorsport Crew Chief Chris Hovey and Team Manager/Spotter John Lothrop were happy with the outcome thus far. Car Support was provided by Team RPM crew members Tim McGraw and Travis Makela. Cooling temperatures from Saturday to Sunday helped the drivers and crew feel more comfortable. The CoolBoxx iceless driver aid didn’t have to work as hard as the day before.

The start of the race was a bit chaotic. Accardo found himself in 2nd for a few laps but managed to grab the lead executing a pass in turn 11 and never looked back capturing another win for the acclaimed RPM team! This was a great result and successful outing with a new car for driver and team.

Bob Accardo reviews his Round FOUR performance:
“I’m glad I took the advise of Team Owner Reto Baumann to use this round at Sonoma Raceway to shake down the new car. The guys at Life’s Good Racing again delivered on time and the trackside support by Team Red Panther Motorsport was flawless as always. The level that these guys operate at is nothing short of incredible! To come home with a race win at a first outing with a new car is incredible! I’m super excited for the upcoming race weekend supporting the NTT Indy Car Series at the Firestone GP of Monterey at Laguna Seca Sept 9-11. No sound limits that weekend either, so we are gonna bring it- LOUD!”
