Sharing is caring…

San Ramon, CA – Gary Trudeau & Dave Brown decided to team up and share the driver’s seat for the 2022 United States Touring Car Championship season. Dave Brown had the honor of starting off the season and the Championship challenge for the Touring Car (TC) class. Gary Trudeau was on site to support his fellow driver.

Dave set the pole position time in Saturday’s qualifying session only to have GoGoGear’s Reza Arsham claim the pole in Sunday’s qualifying session. Tire strategy is always part of the competition and came into play during the two days of qualifying. Team RPM’s #52 Hyundai Genesis Coupe ran flawlessly, and we knew it would come down to the Sunday race pace…

The standing start proved to be a handful, since one of the front row cars stalled and everyone behind needed to take evasive action. Into turn one, Dave Brown found himself side-by-side with Reza, with the outside line prevailing for Reza on the exit. The rest of the competition had already lost substantial ground due to the start issues. The two carried on with Dave Brown chasing Reza and starting to close the 3-car length gap as the race wore on. It looked to be a close race to the checkered flag.

However, suddenly the positions had changed, and Reza seemed to fall behind Dave Brown. Turns out that Reza had some mechanical issue requiring him to nurse the car home. Dave Brown took the lead and drove the #52 home to the checkered flag starting the season off the right way with a win for himself and Gary Trudeau in the TC class.

Dave Brown reviews his Round ONE performance:
“Such a great feeling to be driving competitively in USTCC again! I must thank Gary & Patricia Trudeau for this opportunity to share the seat this season. We had a perfectly prepped car that ran great! Reza and I were running closely together exchanging fast lap times for the first portion of the race race. It was shaping up to be an epic battle, but I’m sure there will be many more this season That is how racing should be. I’m quite pleased to claim the race win and come home from Round 1 with the championship points lead. Always a good feeling to start off the season with a win. Both Gary and I are looking forward to the challenges ahead. We also thank Team RPM for their support all weekend long. What a program they have! Fantastic!”
