Podium Streak Ends but MC Racing Still Scores Solid Finish

June 22, 2025 (Sonoma, CA) – Michael McColligan, driving the #36 MC Racing Honda Civic SI, battled a
tough field to finish 4th in the Sportsman Class at Round 3 of the 2025 Hankook United States Touring
Car Championship at Sonoma Raceway.
MC Racing knew they would have to find a bit of lap time if they were to challenge for the front on the
first sprint weekend at Sonoma Raceway. The team made some setup changes that seemed to work as
team driver Michael McColligan picked up the pace in practice. With some further refining, McColligan
was able to put two clean laps together under pressure in the short 10 minute qualifying shootout,
laying down a time good enough for P4 for the standing race start. At the drop of the green flag,
McColligan got a reasonable start but one of the rear-wheel-drive BMW’s launched even better,
grabbing 4 th place by turn 2. McColligan was not deterred, applying the pressure for the next lap and a
half with 4 th place changing hands multiple times before he was able to make a decisive move in turn 2
and build a gap. McColligan then focused forward, running his fastest laps of the weekend as he chased
down the pack ahead. Even though he made some progress, he was not able to mount a serious
challenge, bringing the MC Racing Civic SI home in a strong 4 th place at the checkered flag. “We had
another strong weekend with a solid finish and good points for the championship. The first few laps
were tight but very fair and a lot of fun! We will keep working hard to find a bit more pace and stronger
standing starts to get closer to the front pack”, smiled McColligan in parc ferme. MC Racing will keep
the focus and work hard for a strong run at the round 4 enduro.
