Mike Tries Motorsports Fields Significant Upgrades, Overcomes Mechanical Issues to Take the Green Flag at Pitt Race

Wampum, PA - Mike Tries Motorsports' Mike McLaughlin came to Pittsburgh International Race Complex on a mission this past weekend. After a disappointing weekend at Summit Point Motorsports Park in July, where a laptop failure bricked his #6 Audi A4's ECU, McLaughlin intended to complete a successful weekend and get the Audi to run more competitively with the rest of the field.
Significant engine and suspension changes made over the summer made the Audi a much more competitive car. While the car ran on Saturday, it was running down on power, but it was able to complete all sessions that day, and the suspension changes were validated. Some work on tuning Saturday night led to promising results on Sunday morning where the car was competitively fast--until a mechanical failure led to the car losing power early in the qualifying session.
The wrenches came out, fasteners were sourced, and fellow competitors were rewarded for their assistance with Dunkin' coffee. Between the qualifying event and the feature race on Sunday, a loose turbocharger was reattached, double-checked, and sent out with only minutes to spare to make a great start with fellow USTCC drivers Daniel Szwarc, Anthony Piselli, and Patryk Tararuj.
"This was a tough weekend for a few teams. For the Audi, it was a race to get the car running well enough to take the green flag. We accomplished that, had a great start, and I hear we had a few fans shouting reminders for us to pick up paper towels at the store. I wish the car had a stronger finish, but we got the data we needed to make sure the car is strong for the next race. I really want to thank On Q Racing and Braci Racing Team for scrambling to help get the car sorted. I'm grateful for everybody's assistance."
