MC Racing Equals Career Best Finish and Jumps into the Points Lead

June 12, 2022 (Fontana, CA) – Michael McColligan, driving the #36 MC Racing Mazda RX8 stormed back
onto the podium finishing in P2 at Round 3 of the Hankook Tires United States Touring Car
Championship at Auto Club Speedway.
MC Racing had their trusty Mazda RX8 ready for action at Round 3, racing close to home at Auto Club
Speedway. The team finally had some time to rebuild the front of the car the way they wanted after
temporary repairs from the big crash last season where the car was heavily damaged. Team driver
Michael McColligan steadily increased his pace through the practice sessions and had a smile on his face
after jumping out of his familiar cockpit. “I struggled a bit adapting to the front-wheel drive Civic at
Thunderhill so it really was nice to be back behind the wheel of the rear-drive rocket ship”, stated
McColligan. At the drop of the green flag one of the Touring Cars stalled bottling up the field a bit and
McColligan was able to take advantage and move up to second. He then got shuffled back to third and
began running his consistent race-pace, moving up to second by the checkered flag. “It feels great to be
back on the podium spraying the champagne and I am so happy to follow-up on the strong race from my
teammate, Tom Lepper at Round 2, and push us to the lead of the Sportsman Class driver’s
championship”, summed-up McColligan. The team has some big development plans to keep on top of
the driver’s championship.
