Larry Bani debuts new car in GT class with pole position and second place finish
Buttonwillow, CA – Larry Bani, driving the GoGoGear.com/JB Autoworkz BMW 335i, put the brand new car on pole position at the first race of the United States Touring Car Championship (USTCC) season at Buttonwillow Raceway. He managed to bring the car home in second place in the race after not being able to do any testing during the off season.
A slow getaway at the start allowed Rob Harper’s Corvette to gain the lead over Bani and from that point Bani had to play catchup. Bani could not take it easy because there were many fast cars behind that wanted to take second place away from him. “Due to the Covid-19 crisis, we were not able to do any testing before the race which really hurt us,” Said Bani after the race. “I had the speed to keep up with Harper but the car started running hot and I had to back out of it to make sure I stay in second place,” Added Bani.
