Hollywood at Sonoma Raceway
San Ramon, CA – And he is back as promised!! Beau Borders escaped Hollywood and traveled to Sonoma Raceway (finally!) for the chance to get back behind the wheel of his Spec Ford Mustang, joining the Red Panther Motorsport line-up of cars.
Beau decided to join the team for Friday testing so that he could get some additional and much needed seat time. The car, prepared and set up by Darrell Anderson at American V8 Supercars, performed perfectly all weekend long. “Thanks to AV8, the most work we had to do on the car all weekend was applying all the new sponsor stickers!”, exclaimed Beau on the podium.
Coming into the Championship late, Beau didn’t have to deal with any rewards weight - and we knew that this could be an advantage. Given his dominant performance in qualifying, a top finish was in the cards and the team got excited about the prospect of Beau coming back and celebrating his return with a Touring Class (TC) win!
Beau Borders reviews his USTCC Round 3 winning performance:
“It is great to be driving competitively again and also, to come away with a win in the 2021 United States Touring Car Championship. I felt right back at home in the series I won a Championship in years ago. The car was prepared perfectly, and the Red Panther Motorsport crew supported me on the highest level. Without Reto’s team, including my spotter Uncle Mike and crew chiefs Chris Hovey and Tim McGraw, a win in this tightly contested field of great drivers would not have been possible. Dave Brown’s guidance was invaluable as well, and I can’t thank everyone involved enough to have made my series return a success. I very much look forward to doing some more USTCC racing this season and to be back trackside with my Red Panther family!”
Beau will unfortunately miss the next round at Laguna Seca again due to his other endurance racing responsibilities with the Prototype Development Group. He should be back for two rounds thereafter at Thunderhill and Sonoma later in the year. Thus, there could be more possible wins on the table for him and the team.
