Final Race of the Season = Final Chance!

San Ramon, CA – The penultimate race of the 2020 United States Touring Car Championship season brought the last chance for a possible race win for Reto Baumann. He had already secured second place in the Championship with no realistic chance of being able to better that position. It did take some luck for Reto to finish on the top step, but that doesn’t mean it is any less deserved. A very solid season comes to an end with a W for Reto which allows him to keep his season streak of winning USTCC races to a third year in a row.

Reto Baumann reviews his Round 6 performance:
“Finally I managed to get off the line reasonably well. I still lost a place though. But that wasn’t as bad as the average start loss of 3 places. There was some coming together by other cars into turn two which I had to avoid, but nothing that took me too much off the racing line. I then knew that I was leading my class, as the leading car was involved in that incident. Not trying to interfere too much with the Championship battle in the TC class, I continued to stay close to the leading car and waiting for my time to get by and run away. I did so about two laps later and got by a first GT car now being in clear air. I was able to put down consistent and reasonably fast lap times to clinch my first win this season in the last race of the 2020 calendar. I am glad I was able to do so, even though I needed some luck. ‘To be first, you first have to finish’ is the old saying that helped me this time. Congratulations to all the USTCC competitors for a great season and my friend and competitor Doug Makishima for his Championship win with team AR-G Motorsports!”
