Edgar Lau Continues Win Streak for Makishima At Buttonwillow

Lau dominates Buttonwillow double header weekend.

Napa, CA– August 8, 2020 – AR-G Motorsports announces Edgar Lau, team driver with Doug Makishima takes double class win at Buttonwillow with two overall pole positions to two overall victories as icing on the cake. The double header weekend came as a late addition to the race calendar thanks to uncertainties this year. Lau had to sit in for Makishima as a result of the untimely addition of the event. The #23 BMW M3 has been undefeated this season and has proven to be a very reliable car. Lau topped the time sheets every session and had a flawless weekend.
Qualifying

Qualifying on Saturday was not as straightforward for Lau as he lost pole position for a minute. Lau got to work when the team informed him that he was in 2nd place for qualifying and pulled out an extra second over the competitor at the end of the session.

Sunday qualifying was smooth sailing for Lau, being comfortably a second ahead of the next car in front of his teammate Alliegro.

Race

Lau had some company on track in the Saturday race where he ran in the mix of the GT field that was miles ahead of his competitors in class. Lau eventually finished the race 2nd overall but was handed the overall win after a penalty issued post-race for unsportsman-like behaviour of a competitor on the final lap of the race.

Sunday race was a smooth solo run from green flag to checkered flag by Lau checking out from the whole field of cars early on in the race.

Quote

Edgar Lau, Driver #23 AR-G Motorsports BMW M3

“I am honored to be partnering with Doug in this championship and I had a good time driving the #23 BMW M3. Saturday’s race was a little rowdy in my opinion but I got what I came for which was to win and I did. Sunday’s race provided a little entertainment for me as it was my first time driving Buttonwillow in the CCW direction so I basically had to learn a new track. I guess I did alright there. Overall, I’m happy for Doug to secure the ST championship as we head into the final round at Sonoma.”
