Doug Makishima wins USTCC round 3 in Super Touring (ST) extending his winning streak to 9

Napa, CA– August 29, 2020 – AR-G Motorsports announces that defending 2019 ST Season Champion Doug Makishima, an AR-G team principal and team driver, won the USTCC round 3 race in the Super Touring (ST) class at Sonoma Raceway. This win continues his momentum from the season opener and extends his win streak to 9 in the #23 Summit Tech BMW M3. Makishima’s fastest race lap was over 2 seconds faster than his nearest ST competitor despite carrying 150 pounds of REWARDS weight. He started on pole qualifying fastest overall including the faster class GT cars, and overcame a first lap spin due to on track debris to charge back through the field and finish P1 in the ST class.

"The team overcame great adversity to participate in this USTCC round 3 at Sonoma,” said Makishima. Team owner and boss, Danial Rose, almost lost his home and shop to the Napa fires, but thanks to CalFire the property where the team AR-G race cars were stored was saved. We lost all the spares and fresh tires in the fire and missed the Friday test day, but the team had #23 BMW M3 well sorted and prepped for Saturday qualifying 1, where I set the ST pole, and on Sunday I set the overall pole ahead of the faster GT class cars in qualifying 2. I hit some debris on the first lap of the race and had to make my way back through the field to secure another win in ST. This result was made possible by our crew, fans and sponsors.”
