Closely Fought Battle

Walnut Creek, CA – It was Gary Trudeau who took the wheel again for this round, with Dave Brown supporting him for his United States Touring Car Championship home race at Sonoma Raceway. The #52 Hyundai Genesis Coupe sponsored by Automotive Calibration Services and Gary’s Airbag Service performed well all weekend long.

The Championship battle in the Touring Car class (TC) is closely fought between the driver pairings of Gary Trudeau / Dave Brown and Gary Sheehan / Reza Arsham. Either team naturally has their hopes up for a win on any given weekend.

Qualifying was tight as ever, with the better end for the competition. Gary Trudeau settled to start from the first row, nevertheless. The race start was chaos, with Gary Sheehan tapping the rear of a competitor and spinning that car around to face the rest of the field. This allowed Gary Trudeau to take the class lead. And that lead was to change multiple time over the race distance. However, at the end Gary Trudeau had to settle for second, keeping the Championship lead with Dave Brown by 15 pts.

A big thanks goes out to the youngster Car Support / Mechanic Nicholas Brown working on the car, Co-Driver Dave Brown in the Spotter role as well as Crew Chief Chris Hovey and Team Manager John Lothrop.

Everyone on the Red Panther Motorsport team is looking forward to the next two rounds of the United States Touring Car Championship racing as the support series to the NTT Indy Car Series at the Firestone GP of Monterey at Laguna Seca. Another chance to fight for a race win in this closely fought battle for the Championship.

Gary Trudeau reviews his Round FOUR performance:
“This was another close battle for the race win. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the result I wanted. I am happy with second and still being in the lead of the Championship with my Co-Driver Dave Brown. The car was set-up well and performed without any issues. The Red Panther Motorsport team supported me well all weekend. Dave will take over for Round 5, and me again for Round 6, both at Laguna Seca during a big race weekend for us all. It would be great to claim to the top set of the podium there!”
