BRT's Rookie Szwarc Shows Super-Speed Progress at Summit Point Raceway

Round three at Summit Point was a resounding success for driver Daniel Szwarc in his 370Z. As it was his first time on Summit outside the simulator on Saturday, Dan started the day slowly, building speed managing to only get into the low 1:40’s before a red flag stopped the session. During the heat race afterwards, Dan continued his improvement and managed a 1:33.8 as his fastest lap but ended last in class. However, Dan’s steady improvement far outweighed the results. The USTCC racers were barely able to escape the rain Saturday afternoon and started planning for Sunday’s feature race.
Dan continued the progress in the warmup session Sunday morning before the race, ending in the high 1:31s. During the feature race, Dan was able to consistently set lap times of 1:30-1:31 in clean air and hit a PB of 1:29.572 halfway through the race. The Z held up remarkably well, never even approaching the limit on oil and water temp. The suspension changes the team made to the rear gave the Z much more grip in the rear while still allowing for good rotation through the back half of the track. However, the open differential and lack of aero still prevented Dan and the Z from putting the power down and keeping speed through some of the faster turns on track.
BRT looks to continue upgrading the Z before Pitt Race in a month and hopes to finish the revival of the supercharged Civic to take the battle to the other ST racers!
