Brad Austin Wins at Sonoma
Sonoma, CA -- After an unusually busy weekend for TNI Racing, Brad Austin took first place in round 3 of the United States Touring Car Championship, this time at Sonoma Raceway.
Practice went well for TNI racing, setting the fastest time of the morning practice in the Sportsman Class for USTCC and qualifying in second place. Austin won the race from outside of the front row, putting him in the lead for the championship. Austin qualified in P2 for the USTCC race after being beaten out by Sean Milburns Acura RSX by .05 seconds. So Austin started just next to the pole position for the race on Sunday. At the green flag, Brad had a great launch and clawed his way through traffic with Milburn and his RSX hot on his tail. Five laps in, and Austin set a new Sportsman class USTCC lap record with a 1:51.411. He fought past all of the TC field, and finished behind only 2 cars taking first in the Sportsman class, and third place overall, his best finish so far.
Next race is at Laguna Seca on July 31-Aug 1 where TNI Racing will continue to fight for the points lead.
