Austin wins again at Laguna Seca
TNI Racing had a fantastic weekend at Laguna Seca, with the entire team on the podium. After a great qualifying time putting him on Pole Position, Brad Austin was ready and eager to give his MX5 Miata all his effort to get back on the podium for this race.
The last race for the TNI Racing MX5 ended up with a blown transmission and with a short time to get the rebuild done, the spare trans was put in the car for this weekend. Luckily the practice sessions went great which meant the trans was doing fine. A few adjustments for the car after a brake issue was discovered, and all the brakes were bled and checked, then time to get ready for the race.
Brad started Pole and jumped out in front early on in the race. He fought his way through slower traffic and never looked back. On the bumpers of the faster TC and ST cars the majority of the race, he set a Sportsman class USTCC lap record on lap 8 of the race with a 1:41.560, just narrowly missing his qualifying time of 1:41.380. Brad ended up in P4 overall for the race and P1 in Sportsman class. Things are looking great for TNI Racing, with Brad still in the points lead for the championship, and he will be back again on September 18th at Laguna Seca for Round 5 of the USTCC Series, joined by INDYCAR for the weekend!
