Arsham wins Plastex Top Rookie at Buttonwillow

Round 1 of the 2026 United States Touring Car Championship was at the new Buttonwillow Circuit and Niki Arsham ended the weekend as the Plastex Top Rookie.

This was Arsham’s first time on the new Buttonwillow circuit and she wasn’t sure what to expect. “I’ve heard so many mixed reviews about the course, so I’m excited to finally drive it and see for myself”, said Niki when she arrived at the track on Saturday. She was able to get two practice sessions in before qualifying Saturday evening. This is Niki’s second session driving the #32 Gogogear/Konig wheels Honda Civic, and she feels very comfortable and confident in the car.

Arsham was able to set her fastest time of the weekend during the race despite the wet start. She had an uneventful race but wasn’t upset about it, “It gave me a chance to really focus on the new track and how best to drive it in a front wheel drive car”, said Arsham after the race. Looking forward, Niki is excited for Round 2 at Sonoma Raceway. Last time she was at Sonoma Raceway was for Round 5 in 2025, and she set her personal best lap. Arsham hopes she can beat it during Round 2 this year.
