Andrew Conner Scores Solid Second in Super Touring at NJ Motorsports Park

May 28, 2023 (MIlleville, N.J.) – Andrew Conner, driving the #66 On Q Racing BMW E90 finished 2nd in Round 2 of the Hankook Tires United States Touring Car Championship East Coast Series at New Jersey Motorsports Park’s 1.9 Mile Lightning Raceway.

Round 2 was poised to be a real shootout between the ON Q Racing E90 and the Mezzanine Motorsports Cayman. Coyote Black was hungry to redeem himself after suffering an early exit during Round 1 and had put together some solid laps in both qualifying and the qualifying heat race on Saturday. The On Q Racing team had their sights set on following up on their Round 1 victory and the data collected during both Saturday’s sessions were pointing to a gunfight with the Porsche.

The Grid was set, Both ST cars were near the front of the 23 car field. Coyote was sitting P8 and Andrew was P12. At the drop of the green, all cars launched into turn 1. Andrew pushed hard to keep Coyote in his sights but found himself caught in the middle of a Spec Corvette battle for 4 laps which allowed the Porche to slip further and further into the distance as the laps clicked down. The event was clean, the mix of cars on track played very well together, and the On Q Racing E90 was able to cross the line in P12 overall, and P2 in ST.

“I owe my team a huge thank you this weekend, we had a solid car, they put the best car under me possible. The E90 is always ready to rock, today was Coyote’s day, and we are good with that, he fought hard and earned the P1” were Andrew’s initial comments as he exited the car in post-race impound. “We had a hard fight, we did what we could to keep the Porsche in view, but with racing the variables can stack up on track and you do your best to deal with them as they arrive. Today we fell short, and I am ok with that, we had fun.”

Heading into Round 3 back at Summit Point, On Q Racing is going to take advantage of the month break to sort out a few suspension issues back at the race shop and get the Red E90 loaded on the trailer and ready to do battle in ST again.
