Ali Arsham Finishes Second at Sonoma Raceway

Sonoma, Ca – Ali Arsham, driving the GoGoGear.com/Konig Wheels Hyundai Genesis Coupe, finished second in the United States Touring Car Championship race at Sonoma Raceway on May 30, 2021.

The start of the race was the key moment of the race. The Hyundai of Arsham came off the line with a bit too much wheelspin which resulted in a poor getaway. “The start was everything and I came off the line with too much rpms resulting in the Hankook slicks just spinning. That set me back a few seconds which caused me to get in the middle of a bunch of traffic which in total probably lost me about 10 seconds,” commented Arsham. Those ten seconds to the leader would be tough to get back but once traffic cleared Arsham started to set some fast laps and managed to close the gap to 3 seconds at the end. “With the big crash and the red flag at the beginning I knew the race would be a short one so it was very tough to close the gap in that short of a time,” added Arsham.

With a two month break the teams now have time to make improvements to their cars for the next race at Laguna Seca Raceway at the end of July.
