A one-two finish for the GoGoGear.com team

Monterey, CA – Ali Arsham, driving the GoGoGear.com/Konig Wheels Hyundai Genesis Coupe finished second in the United States Touring Car Championship (USTCC) round 5 at Laguna Seca Raceway on September 18, 2021. Arsham finished right behind his teammate Gary Sheehan, who was driving another Hyundai Genesis Coupe. This was the team’s first 1-2 finish since 2020.
Arsham did not have it easy in qualifying, managing to qualify third in class. “The competition was tough and there were a lot of fast drivers and cars so I was happy to get third place but I knew that the race would be a battle. We made some set up changes for the race and hoped that our changes made the car quicker,” said Arsham after the race. The changes did make the car quicker as Arsham and Sheehan pulled away from the field at the start and did not look back.
“At the start the strategy was to pull away and build a gap. Brad Austin was in front of me in a different class but he was quick and I was not going to try anything because it would slow us both down. We both started working together to pull away from the guys behind who were slowing themselves down by having a battle behind,” continued Arsham.
At the end, it was the team’s first 1-2 finish since October 2020.
On Sunday, Gordon Pun drove the car and finished sixth. Not the best result but the team was happy to score some points and keep their second place in the championship going into Round 7 at Buttonwillow Raceway next month.
