A Mixed Bag of a Weekend…

San Ramon, CA – Bob Accardo and his #29 Howe Chassis 2010 Chevy Camaro came back for round Five and Six of the 2021 USTCC Championship supporting the NTT Indy Car Series during the Firestone GP of Monterey.

The car was again prepped by the acclaimed crew at Life’s Good Racing in Livermore, CA and performed pretty much flawlessly throughout the weekend until halfway through the final race on Sunday. Accardo was fast during the practice sessions, in good spirits with optimism for the weekend, and backed it up with front row qualifying spots for both races of the weekend.

Starting from Pole Position for Saturday’s race (USTCC Round 5), Accardo led most of the race. Holding off relentless pursuit, a small mistake of putting two wheels off at the exit of T6 provided an opportunity for the second-place car to steal the lead. Bob would eventually have to settle for a second-place finish but stated that “being a bridesmaid was worth it for the knowledge gained.”
Sunday’s race (USTCC Round 6) Accardo started from the outside of the front row in P2. When the Green Flag dropped, he won the drag-race to the first turn and led the field for the first half of the race only to run into a mechanical issue which resulted a complete failure of the front brakes and a spin into the gravel trap at T5 ending his day.

Nonetheless, what a great weekend of racing in front of thousands of fans! The crew at Red Panther Motorsport made a valiant effort which afforded Accardo a podium finish for a job well done giving the fans a heck of a show while supporting the NTT Indy Car series. The “Big Red Camaro” also attracted many visitors to the Red Panther Motorsport paddock.
Bob Accardo reviews his Round FIVE & SIX performance:
“I need to thank the guys at Life’s Good Racing for the car preparation and the team at Red Panther Motorsport for their support. In fact, I can’t say enough about this race team… The level of dedication and hard work that these people put into their racing program is nothing short of amazing and gives me the confidence that I need to win, every time I climb into the car! I feel bad when I make a mistake and we fall short like what happened in Saturday’s race. Sunday was just bad luck, everybody did everything right. There is still a couple of races left, we’re not done yet!”
