A close second place is great news for Arsham at Laguna Seca

Monterey, CA – Round 2 of the United States Touring Car Championship (USTCC) was a close second place finish for Ali Arsham, driving the GoGoGear.com/ Konig Wheels Hyundai Genesis.

Arsham qualified the Hyundai in second place and was excited to be second to his teammate Reza Arsham, driving the other GoGoGear.com/ Konig Wheels Honda Civic Type R. At the start, the Civic got a better start and got the lead going into turn 2. “At that point, I knew that Reza would be quick so the focus became to protect second place against some fast cars from behind,” said Ali Arsham. Reza started to pull away and by lap 8 was 14 seconds ahead. At that point, it seemed like it was over but the rapid pace was taking its toll on the Civic’s front tires and brakes. The better balanced Genesis had no such issues and was now turning much quicker lap times, taking out seconds per lap. On lap 12, Ali took two seconds out of the gap and 3 more seconds on lap 13 and 4 more seconds on lap 14. At the finish line the gap was just over 2 seconds. “I think if the race was one lap longer, it would have been very exciting but the team finishing first, second and fourth was a great accomplishment,” commented Ali Arsham.
