Round 3 at Sonoma Full of Many Battles

Napa, CA -- Round 3 of the United States Touring Car Championship (USTCC) took place at the iconic Sonoma Raceway, renowned for its challenging twists and turns, providing an exciting venue for both drivers and spectators. The fierce competition and exhilarating racing that unfolded during the race weekend was something that Sonoma always seems to deliver.

The third round of the USTCC at Sonoma Raceway attracted a diverse field of skilled drivers representing various teams, manufacturers and countries. The race weekend consisted of practice sessions, qualifying rounds, and, finally, the main event. With its technical layout and elevation changes, Sonoma Raceway offered a true test of driver skill and car performance.

In the GT class, newcomer Michael Ostrowski’s BMW M4 GT4 was up against the Accurate Arms Chevrolet Camaro of Bob Accardo. The BMW took the early lead and showed that it is a match for the potent V8 Camaro but Acccardo passed the BMW and slowly started to pull away and managed to take the win and set the fastest lap of the race.

The Touring Car class had many competitors trying to take the win and Sean Milburn looked very quick at the early stages until his car had mechanical issues and had to retire. Gary Sheehan took another win in the Konig Wheels/GoGoGear.com Hyundai Genesis while Larry Bani’s Hermes BMW M3 finished second and Daniel Rose’s Konig Wheels/GoGoGear.com Hyundai Genesis finished third. Rose fought off a hard charging Seong Kim for the entire race to collect third place.

The Super Touring battle was between the Konig Wheels/GoGoGear.com Honda Civic Type R of Reza Arsham who started from pole position versus Reto Baumann’s 034 Motorsports/Nemesis Labs Volkswagen Jetta. The two cars are very closely matched and Baumann jumped to the lead at the start. Arsham managed to make the pass and retake the lead for the win while Banumann finished second. Rob Harper’s P2i/Forgeline BMW 335i finished third.

Sportsman always seems to have the best battles and Ben Penn jumped from fourth to first at the start in the BMW 328i. He kept the lead despite a lot of pressure. Behind him Chris Evertsen recovered from a spin to finish second in the Speed Traveler BMW 330i while Tom Milburn put the Bay Area Drafting Acura RSX in third place.

Round 3 delivered an outstanding racing spectacle for motorsport enthusiasts. With intense battles for positions and strategic maneuvers on display, the drivers showcased their talent and determination to win. Bob Accardo’s win showcased his exceptional driving skills and ability to maintain consistent pace throughout the race, earning him the top spot on the podium.

The competitive nature of the USTCC was evident during the entire weekend, from the exciting qualifying rounds to the thrilling main race. Sonoma Raceway proved to be an excellent host for this round, challenging the drivers and providing an enthralling experience for both participants and spectators alike.
As the championship progresses, racing fans eagerly anticipate the next rounds of the United States Touring Car Championship, where drivers will continue to push the limits of their cars and skills in pursuit of victory.
