IndyCar driver Memo Gidley to race with BAF Racing at Thunderhill round of the United States Touring Car Championship

Napa, CA – Memo Gidley has signed on with the BAF Racing team to drive their Chevrolet Corvette in the GT class of the United States Touring Car Championship (USTCC) at Thunderhill Raceway on August 1-2, 2020. Gidley has extensive racing experience and brings a ton of talent with his experience in the IndyCar circuit as well as racing sports cars with IMSA and American LeMans Series.
Gidley was at the team shop on Monday getting fitted for the car and was debriefed on race details by the team. “I am excited to be running a race for Sam at BAF Racing,” said Gidley. “My first race driving for Sam was when we were teammates in the 25 Hours of Thunderhill race a long time ago! He was a great individual then with a passion to race. And to this day, with Sam nothing has changed, still a passionate and hard working person doing what we all love to do…race!”
The BAF Racing team has been a very strong team in USTCC and the team is looking for a very strong result with Gidley behind the wheel. “There are some very talented drivers with experience in some of the top series in the world and it will be very interesting to see them compete against Memo,” said Sam Stowell, Principal of the BAF Racing Team.

USTCC is a professional road racing series comprising of late model sport compact sedans such as BMW 3 series, Mazdaspeed 3, Hyundai Genesis Coupe, Chevrolet Corvette, Porsche 911, Audi R8, Ford Mustang, Honda Civic and others. The cars use slightly modified engines and highly modified suspensions with aerodynamic ground effects and sticky Hankook slick race tires.
