Viktor Czapla and Gary Sheehan made it another exciting weekend for racing at Fontana, California with two wins in a row in the United States Touring Car Championship (USTCC).

In the Super Touring Class, Viktor Czapala stood at the top of the podium again driving the Cool Boxx Audi R8. Art Nersisyan had transmission challenges with the Edge Motorwerks BMW M3 on day one, but turned it around on race day to snag second place. Reto Baumann took third place in the West Coast Ravenol VW Jetta.

Anthony Lanza took home first place in the Grand Touring class driving the Lanza & Smith PLC Lotus Exige. Rob Harper’s AP Racing/BC Forged BMW 335i lost power steering during the race and he was forced to fight hard for his second place finish.

In the Touring Car class, it was Gary Sheehan in the GoGoGear.com/Konig Wheels Hyundai Genesis that took first place. The second podium position was a huge battle between Ken Kurtz in the Netapp.com Lexus IS300 against Gordon Pun’s GoGoGear.com/Konig Wheels Hyundai Genesis. Each of them had second place at some point in the race with the finish coming down to a drag race to the checkered flag which was won by Kurtz. Pun had to settle for third place.

Brad Austin, driving the TNI Racing Mazda MX5, had a very exciting weekend taking his first win in the Sportsman class. Daniel Milburn’s Bay Area Drafting Acura RSX was across the finish line in second. Taking the last podium position was Michael McColligan driving the Raybestos/Idemitsu Mazda RX8.

The drivers will be lining up for round 3 on May 29-30, at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, California.
