Two minutes left for the Win…

San Ramon, CA – Beau Borders decided to bring back Mike Holland’s MyRaceShop.com Factory Five GTM for Round 7 of the 2021 USTCC Championship race at Buttonwillow. This time, Buttonwillow had a surprise for all the drivers, running the track counterclockwise – and the track truly becomes a different beast to tame…

Qualifying was a mess for the USTCC drivers trying to find track space, whilst another group was having a race. One racer didn’t keep his head cool and cut through the inside of a corner through the dirt, squarely hitting the side of the unfortunately placed #4 that was apexing the turn. This resulted in quite some damage to the left rear bodywork and suspension.

The team went on to repair it all for Sunday’s race, only to find that the right rear wheel hub had sheared off during the warm-up. Without too much time left, all hands were on deck trying to get the car fixed and out on track in time for the race start. What a fantastic job everyone did, sending the repaired car out with two minutes to spare and Beau Borders taking his grid position for the installation lap and a subsequent win in GT class, also claiming the fastest lap of the race!

It was again a true pleasure for Red Panther Motorsport to have the Hankook Factory Five GTM and MyRaceShop.com under our tent, representing and driving for the team.

Beau Borders reviews his Round SEVEN performance:
“A race weekend always has its ups and downs. This time though, we were really close of not being able to make the race after the incident in Qualifying and the subsequent hub failure on the car. The Red Panther Motorsport crew again gave us the most incredible support. It was great to see them collaborate with Mike Holland and John Babbidge in repairing the car just in time to make the race. The fact that we were able to claim the fastest lap of the race is just a testament to the quality everyone on the team Is putting into this. The car itself was an attention getter as always and just great fun to drive for me. To get the win is just the icing on the cake and I couldn’t have asked for any better end to this weekend. We were able to finish on a high note, after nearly having been out. What a rollercoaster! I look forward to race this car under the Red Panther Motorsport banner again in the future.”
