On Q Racing's Andrew Conner Gets It Done with Decisive ST Victory

April 23, 2023 (Summit Point, W.V.) – Andrew Conner, driving the #66 On Q Racing BMW E90 finished 1st in Round 1 of the Hankook Tires United States Touring Car Championship East Coast Series at Summit Point Motorsports Park.

On Q Racing had high expectations based on last year’s 1st place run, but the racing gods had other plans for the team. “I could not be more impressed with my team, we had a major setback during qualifying on Saturday, when the upper radiator hose disconnected from the water jacket inlet and put me into a massive spin heading down the chute at 100 mph. There was no damage to the car, but the Hankook F200s suffered a few flat spots”, Andrew stated during his post qual team debrief. “We have a lot of maintenance to get accomplished in a short period of time to ensure we were ready for the Qualifying Heat Race, which is scheduled right after lunch on Saturday, but if any team can get it done its On Q Racing”.

Sunday’s Feature saw On Q Racing starting 11th on the grid due to a poor lap times due to both the spin in initial Qualifying and a 23-minute red flag and subsequent rain event, which combined made it impossible to get any real heat and ort confidence back into the car. At the drop of the green, the red E90 made its way through the field, picking off multiple cars per lap, until landing in a solid 4th place overall, he was unable to catch Roger Maeda in his rocket fast green Honda Prelude, but 4th overall was respectable given the hurdles the team had to overcome.

“Once again this car was a rocket, The team did a great job, my fellow competitors ran a clean race, lots of battling from flag to flag, excellent weekend had by all, I was sorry to see Coyote in the Cayman in the wall at grid out, it would have been one heck of a fight” were Andrew’s words as he headed to the podium to claim his 1st in ST award.
