Edgar Lau With a Dominant Weekend at Laguna Seca Double Header

Napa, CA– September 19, 2021 –Edgar Lau got behind the wheel of his FP350S at Laguna Seca, went to work and came off with 2 out of 2 wins over the weekend. After extensive research and development on the FP350S in the past 6 months Lau found some extra speed to pull away from the crowd.

Qualifying 1

Lau went out for qualifying 1 with confidence only to find out the transponder was not working. After repairs being made in a pit stop, Lau improved his time but to no avail as the transponder still was not working. Lau made another pit stop for a fix and improved his time to a 1:32.86 which didn’t register yet again. The session ended with Lau not having a qualifying time.

Qualifying 2

Come Saturday for qualifying 2, the transponder issue had been resolved and Lau put down a qualifying lap in traffic just 2 tenths of a second quicker to take the overall pole position for race 2

Race 1

Without a qualifying time, Lau had to start the race at the back of the pack. When the green flag dropped, Lau immediately started picking off competitors one by one, knocking seven of his colleagues down a peg within the first lap alone. By the 10th lap, he was in position two and chasing down the Chevrolet Camaro. The Camaro of Accardo put distance between himself and the rival Mustang at every straightaway, but Lau’s nearly perfect driving kept him close behind in corners, perfectly positioned to take advantage of even the tiniest opening.. Lau’s fate finally turned when Accardo went just a bit too wide on the exit of Turn 6, spitting up gravel and allowing the Mustang to press forward into first. Lau maintained his position at the top for the rest of the 20-lap race.

Race 2

Lau started race 2 on pole position but that does not mean the race was smooth sailing. The Chevrolet Camaro that started next to Lau had a better run into Turn 2 and was able to get ahead. Lau again demonstrated a flawless drive while keeping pressure on the Camaro has paid off when the Camaro went wide coming out of Turn 2 4 laps into the race and allowed the Mustang of Lau to get alongside for turn 3 resulting in the Camaro finally yielding the lead back to Lau which he kept for the remainder of the race.
