A new Super Touring Class Contender to Debut at Laguna Seca
San Ramon, CA – After racing go-karts since his early teens, Reto Baumann fulfilled a lifelong dream of purchasing a race car and not just any car: a Volkswagen Jetta 2.0 GLI,purpose-built by Audi Motorsport USA. Baumann took the former Pirelli World Touring Challenge car and swiftly moved through the qualifying stages leading to his race license with the National Auto Sports Association (NASA).
On- and off-track race support by the acclaimed ‘Life’s Good Racing’ Team from Livermore, CA provides a combined 61 years of experience in all forms of auto racing, along with 35 national and regional championships to their name. Chris Hovey, Life’s Good Racing Crew Chief, is excited to collaborate with tenaciously fast driver Baumann and his well-built VW.
The Volkswagen Jetta 2.0 GLI was designed to the highest quality standards and raced to several wins and podiums in the World Touring Car Challenge in 2013. Chris and his team carefully checked and evaluated all aspects of the race car’s solid composition and Reto shook it down at both Thunderhill and Sonoma Raceways this spring.
With the race license secured and the car running optimally, Baumann and his VW Jetta will have their first outing as a new entry to the US Touring Car Championship’s Super Touring Class at Laguna Seca Raceway the weekend of June 30th and July 1st, 2018. “I’m confident to be fast right out of the gate. Looking forward to racing at Laguna Seca Raceway for the first time," commented Baumann.
