Season Opener Cancelled Due to Covid-19 Virus
The Covid-19 virus has forced the cancellation of the season opener at Las Vegas which was going to take place on April 18. The shelter in place rules set forth by the Governor Steve Sisolak of Nevada as well as similar rules by Governor Gavin Newsome of California mean that teams are not able to go racing at this time. This unprecedented crisis will go away but nobody knows when but we do hope it will be soon. We hope that in the meantime everyone does their part to flatten the curve so that life can get back to normal soon.
It is always good to look at the positive side of things and the positive here is that teams have more time to prepare for the new season. It is hoped that the season can now start in May at Sonoma, California but whether or not that happens will remain to be seen. It is possible that the season will be extended and run as late as December depending on how the situation develops.
In the meantime, be sure to follow the action online and on social media and watch the entire season exclusively on Final Drive TV on NBC Sports BA available on Xfinity, Dish Network, DirecTV, AT&T Uverse and Hulu Live. You can always watch the previous seasons on YouTube.
