2007 Hankook USTCC 13 Race Schedule Announced
The release of the 2007 schedule reflects the growing diversity in the USTCC’s brand of racing. The 2007 USTCC schedule boasts a couple of “MUST SEE” race events on top of returns to regular favorites. These races should bring another exciting year of championship racing for U.S Touring Car fans. The 2007 season will kick off at Thunderhill Raceway in Willows, California on the weekend of March 10-11. Thurderhill Raceway located one hour north of Sacramento, is the track made famous for the longest endurance race in the world, the 25 Hour of Thunderhill. The series returns to Thunderhill after a 2-year absence. The track is fast, long and should be a great first race test for all competitors. Then on March 30-April 1, the series will head to the world famous VIR-Virginia International Raceway in Danville, Virginia to kick off the series in the east. For the second time in as many seasons, state-of-the-art Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, will host the third annual USTCC East-West Shootout. The GT Live weekend will be a two-race round of USTCC action with 100 possible points per race instead of the regular single double point shootout race. All in all both USTCC and GT Live fans will get a double doze of USTCC action in one weekend. As the season head towards the summer months, the USTCC returns to Thunderhill Raceway in Willows, California for second date on June 2-3. This time will be a 60-minute race format with a single pit-stop requirement. The following weekend of June 9-10 the series will visit a mid-west track new for the east schedule at Grattan Raceway in Belding, Michigan. On July 14-15 both USTCC East and West will be on the race calendar on the same weekend. The East will dice it up on the famous Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, while the West will toss it up on the road course of California Speedway in Fontana, California. For the eighth round of the 2007 season, diversity is the key word. On August 4th, 2007, the USTCC field will take on the half-mile oval of Altamont Speedway in Livermore, California during the NASCAR Southwest Regional weekend. This will be the series’ first time to take on a full course oval. With the addition of the half-mile oval track of Altamont, it will officially make the USTCC the most diverse Touring Car series in the country. This should make this race date the closest, most exciting, most heated on-track battle and controversial racing of the 2007 season. A definitely “MUST SEE” USTCC event. The month of August continues with August 5-7 race date return to the famous Road America in Kiel, Wisconsin. This will be a spectator event co-promoted by the track. Event sponsors, name and details will be announced at a later date. Then the USTCC field will haul to Summit Point Raceway in Summit Point, West Virginia for Round 10 on August 25-26 race date. After a month long break, the 2007 championship continues with another busy month of October. Round 11 marks a return to the Sin City, Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 13-14. Then on October 20-21 will be a second race date for the series at Road America for Round 12. The Hankook USTCC will close out its eighth championship season on the world famous Infineon Raceway in the heart of the Sonoma Wine Country. The season finale will be another semi-endurance two hour race format with mandatory pit stops. It should be another close on track battle and pit stop team strategy.
