Willows, CA (April 14, 2013)– After a brutal battle, Brad McClure comes out victorious at the opening round of the Nitto Tires United States Touring Car Championship at Thunderhill Raceway. There were several lead changes during the race and any one of the top five drivers had a chance to win. An oil spill by a blown transmission caused a shuffle in the field with several cars spinning off the track. Tim Barber’s TNI Racing /AmCan Collision Center Mazdaspeed 3 seemed to be the car to beat in the early stages until he was sidelined with mechanical issues. Two time champion Dave Brown was also a huge factor in his debut of the team’s new Competition Clutch/Hawk BMW M3 and lead for part of the race. On the last lap, McClure made his move under braking at Turn 14 and nosed his GoGoGear.com/BTM Motorwerks BMW M3 ahead to score a tight win. Mike Lock showed that a high revving four cylinder in a light weight car can do very well, finishing in third place in his RageTank Acura Integra.FULL STORYRESULTS PHOTOS
